(1) y-x < z-y
(2) z-y > (z-x)/2

Statement 1:
Add x+y on both sides, then you have 2y < x+y, so question can be answered with this statement alone.

Now answer can be either A or D.

Statement 2:
Tells us z-y > (z-x)/2, which means 2z-2y>z-x (Multiplying by 2 on both sides, as 2>0 so no need to reverse sign of inequality)
2z-2y>z-x => 2y<z+x, again question can be answered with this statement alone.
