"and to" lie with it breaks parallelsim
moreover,seems like 3 things rather than the "only" thing(B) all one can do for a sprained ankle is to leave it alone to heal itself, to ice it, and
"and lie with it" breaks parallelsm
seems like 3 things rather than the only thing
(C) all one can do for a sprained ankle is leave it alone while it heals itself, and then ice it and
leave it,ice it and lie with it looks parallel
"and then" sounds as an additional measure making "leave it alone" as the only thing which can be done.Howver the placement of the comma looks suspect.But under timed conditions,i will break in and choose this one
(D) the only thing that can be done for a sprained ankle is leave it alone while it heals itself, ice it, and
seems like 3 different things than can be done
(E) the only thing that can be done for a sprained ankle is to leave it alone while it heals itself, to ice it, and
"and sleep with it" breaks parallelsim
seems like 3 different things

One of those rare questions where grammar mistake could not be spotted..a tight one.Chose C but it seems some expert needs to come and explain why D is the OA

For me contest is between B and E.

I go for B because of conciseness and active voice...and completely disagree with OA!

D or E simply because the sentence starts off in a passive voice and D&E maintain this passive voice.

the correct sequence can be either
to leave, to ice and to lie
or
leave, ice and lie
therefore D
