Ans : 'A planet' after comma is not describing Mars in both the options B & C. Hence, B & C are eliminated. In option E, 'will venture' seems lil' odd. The word 'again' before 'venture' is again odd, which is corrected in option 'D'.
I feel answer is "D".

will go with A for conciseness. 'that' in D can be ommited as planet is a subject of the subordinated clause.
B, C and E are wordy.

Even though it is not given as a choice, why would it not be:
spacecraft .....ventures.....
'spacecraft' is singular right??
Pls explain that...

A. took a while, I think the answer is A
since section after "," starts with a planet, it should be preceeded by Mars and NOT 'again'. So B, C are out.
Among A, D, E. "now known" sounds better than "known now", conveying the intended message that it is now known to be cold as apposed to may be in the past it was not known.
I also see problem with "venture again" in D, venture to Mars subject follows verb, as opposed to introducing 'again' between verb and subject.
In E, 'will' is also not necessary.

D has split infinitive ...also usage of being is incorrect
In A verb doesn't agree with the subject .....
I wonder what is the OA .....

But the most puzzling thing was
dont we need "will" when u say "spacecraft venture to mars.."
dont u think "spacecraft will venture to mars" makes more sense.
The two options which used "will" r bowled over when they use "being"

My thinking says that since "may" is used before(in the stem) which is a probablility rather than a will which is a sureity will doesnt fit here

A is the best choice.
Well, while using "Before" clause in a sentence, we simply cant use "will" so C and E are out.
B -avoid use of "Being"
D -too wordy ".....is known now to be..."
