I'm planning to pursue an MBA in IT strategy consulting. Can you share with me ideas of how an MBA could help piece together the business knowledge needed to become a consultant? How does an MBA complement the technical skills of an IT person wanting to become an IT strategy consultant? Any response would be appreciated!!

Hi, there are many ways to answer this question... Business school will give you both the theoretical knowledge (strategy for example) as well as some very practical tools, but this leads me to the missing piece in your question: What do you already know? A leading school, with some varieties, could help you bridge any gap you currently have.

I would advise- unless you have IT work experience, don't get into it. Remember, market is flooded with Indian IT applicants with solid work experience and you will be competing with them. B-Schools may overlook them citing diversity criterion, but employers look for promising individuals, with some sort of experience and who can work hard to deliver in time, and Indians kind of have a good reputation there.
