This is a modifier question.
"tired" modifies football team
"wanting" modifies football team

Yes, that's right.

"tired after four hours of practice"
and
"wanting to reach home quickly"

are both DESCRIPTIVE phrases that describe the football team. "Wanting" just happens to be the -ING verb form that effectively acts as an adjective/descriptive word just like "tired" does.
