Yeah, I've read the article and think it is pretty disappointing. With that said, no college can known how competitive someone might be. Sure, her SAT's might of been in the lower range, but a top school does not know the entire package.

It really is up to the individual to do some soul searching and know what schools they are competitive with and which ones are a long shot.

agreed...but I have seen some colleges using words like " we strongly recommend you to apply" only later to decide that student is not even worth an interview

anyways...so many angles....tough to make a sweeping comment
