Jennifer has 60 dollars more than Brian. If she were to give Brian 1/5 of her money, Brian would have 25% less than the amount that Jennifer would then have. How much money does Jennifer have?

My preferred solution to the problem is plugging in.
Let's start from the middle (always good):
C. If J has 120 than B has 60. If she gives him 0.2 of her money she will have 0.8*120=96 and he will have 60+24=84. 84 is not 25% less than 96- Wrong answer.
B. 100-60=40. J=100, B=40. 100*0.8=80. After the change - J=80, B=40+20=60. 60 is 25% less than 80. 80/4=20 which is 25% of 80. Correct. Let's check D,E,A to be shur.
A. 40-60= -20. Thus impossible.
D.140-60=80. J=140, B=80. 140*0.8=112. After the change - J=112, B=80+28=108. 108 isn't 25% less than 112.
E. No need to check because 180 is larger than 140.

Lets say Jennier has j and Brian has b dollars

j=b+60 (Jennifer has 60 dollars more than Brian)

b+j/5 = 75%*(4j/5) (If she were to give Brian 1/5 of her money, Brian would have 25% less than the amount that Jennifer would then have)
b+ j/5 = 3j/5
b=2j/5
Replace this in equation 1

j = 2j/5 + 60
3j/5 = 60
j=100

Answer is (b)

I use another calculation.
Let's assume Brain has X, Jennifer has x+60
After she gives him the money jeniffer has:
X+60-1/5(X+60)
and Brian has:
X+1/5(X+60)
-->X+1/5(X+60)=3/4(X+60-1/5(X+60))
After solving this equation X=40, hence Jennifer has 100. Answer should be B.

It would be even easier if we assume that Jennifer has X and Brian X-60, then we come directly to the asnwer 100, without risk of forgetting to add the 60 difference.

For second equation,I mistakenly added 60 to Brian's amount as it was earlier told that Brian already had 60 dollars more than Jeniffer. something like we do in case of calculating ages.

b+60+j/5 = 75%*(4j/5)
