Job title - Engineer or Senior engineer? [#permalink] New post 30 Sep 2011, 23:20
Hi all,

I am a software engineer. In my contract, it is mentioned that I am engineer. However, in my team I am a senior member. I asked my manager and he told me that I could write in my CV that I am senior engineer. However, I still have some doubt because if in the future the schools check with another manager (for example, my current manager leave the company) who doesn't know much about my role in my team then this person may say that I am just engineer (based on my contract). What should I write in my CV? Is there much difference between Engineer and Senior Engineer?

Thank you very much.

If its about CV, you can mention anything you want.

However, If you are filling the application then mention the designation you are given. If you are promoted, then you can mention the promoted title.

Is inflation in job title in CV considered usual?

At my first job, my title was "engineer". "senior engineer" were much senior for the entry-level person to have that title.

Can people share their opinions... I've not seen much of this in high technology world.
