Jobs in france for OxBridge [#permalink] New post 28 Oct 2009, 08:42
I'm French and I would like to apply to either Oxford or Cambridge. However, after I graduate, I would like to work back in France : I know HEC would be better with such a goal, but I wish to experience something else than a French school, even a very good one (my heart's speaking). Is it difficult for MBA grads from UK schools to find a job in France? I'm thinking about going into general management in computer companies.

I would not expect a vast number of French firms to recruit at Oxbridge schools - there are several reasons for this. Linguistically, they are fishing in a reduced pond of talent that would work. They have alternatives near to home in the form of HEC and INSEAD.

That doesn't mean to say that as an Oxbridge MBA you cannot make a career in France work. I am sure firms would be receptive to hearing from you, and your profile may well be more exciting than people going to HEC or INSEAD. What it does is put the onus on you, rather than serving to bring you those opportunities unchallenged.

Hi baky,

now that we are 3 weeks into the recruiting process, I can offer you insights on French recruitment at Oxford.

Many of the firms that have come to Oxford so far are recruiting for general MBA graduate programmes and often one gets to choose location in order of preference. In saying that, there aren't any firms that are only looking to hire MBAs only in France.
