jobs out of michigan [#permalink] New post 19 May 2007, 11:48
I'm applying to business schools this coming year. Do you think it might be easier to get more competitive jobs (i-banking, consulting) at Michigan than it would be at the ultra elite schools? I think fewer students at Michigan go after these jobs as compared to those at ultra elite schools.

Thanks

I hear this quite a bit and really don't buy the argument. First off, consulting is quite popular at Ross and I wouldn't call i-banking "unpopular". With that said there are definitely fewer students persuing banking at Ross than at say Columbia. However, it's a standard supply / demand equation and the number of seats that the banks higher for from Columbia exceeds the number that come out of Michigan, so even if the demand is lower at Michigan, there is a certain equilibrium that remains in balance. So, I wouldn't try to game the system in that way.
