Joint degree from Harvard & MIT? [#permalink]
27 May 2010, 03:31
Has anyone heard of doing a joint program between Harvard and MIT? I am very interested in something technology-heavy like the Leaders in Global Operations program at MIT but in an ideal world would combine that with an MBA from HBS. I know there isn't anything like this structured, but has anyone heard of such ad-hoc combinations?

The LGO by itself is meant to be a combination of an MBA with technical expertise at a higher level. Harvard offers dual degrees with certain other Harvard schools. And it lets you cross register at MIT for your second year MBA elective courses, for upto two courses, if I am not mistaken.
However, I don't think there's a dual program established between HBS and MIT yet. Assuming your technical pursuit lays in MIT, maybe you can try to figure out what specific field interests you and contact a professor there and see if something is possible on a special case-by-case basis.
I am not sure how much this helps, and I would love to have some others' input on this as well!

Not sure about this combination specifically, but I do know that Harvard is very open to multi-institiution joint degrees. I know people who have gotten a Harvard MBA and a Yale JD, as well as an MIT MBA and a Harvard MPP.
It's probably do-able!
