you need "just because" to show contrast and "been" for past tense

I'll go with B

C,D and E are out because of the use of 'it'

I think we need 'had' to convey the earlier past action. So, describing something happened in 886 will require 'had'(earlier past). It is only after this, that Danes 'used'( later past) it to their advantage in 893.

IMO B as two things happened at 2 different time are to be explained

I will go with A.We need not explicitly use the past perfect tense as used in B.Its already understood because of the mention of the date .anyways please post the OA .
