Just graduated and took the GMAT...next steps? [#permalink] New post 12 Aug 2014, 07:17
Hi!

So I just graduated in may, and took the GMAT on Saturday. I'm wondering what steps I should take next.

I graduated from Iowa State with a 3.9 in engineering, and got 730 on the GMAT. I'm hoping to be competitive for a top 5 school, but I'm trying to decide a couple things:

First, what schools should I actually apply for? Is Stanford, Harvard, or MIT a realistic possibility?

Second, when should I plan on applying? I'm currently employed, my employer is definitely not a resume builder. Getting a new job is a priority. I interned at Microsoft last summer, and I'm hoping to go back.

I'd rather go sooner than later, but I know admissions values work experience.

Thanks!

Hi,

Congratulations on your GMAT score.
The selection of colleges depend on a number of factor

- Specialization
- Post MBA goals
- Current work experience etc

Therefore consider all these aspects before selecting a college. A more comprehensive review of your application will be required before we can comment on whether MIT or Harvard is a possibility.

Personally I feel Experience does carry a value in an MBA program. You need to decide the number of years you want to spend in industry before transition.

Good Luck!!
