Has anyone taken the on campus Kaplan GMAT Practice Test?

I haven't started my study in earnest, but I have an opportunity to take the free exam next weekend. However, I am quite overextended between school, work and a extracurricular leadership role. I'm wondering how much value doing a practice exam at this point would add. Is the Kaplan test useful as a diagnostic?

Thanks for the tip. I did look through quite a few entries. I saw info about the online and CD CATs but I was specifically wondering about the simulated testing environment.

In general, do you think its a good idea to take a practice test before beginning preparation?

I think its a good idea to take a practice test before studying, but I would recommend taking one of the two GMATPrep Tests. This would give you a very accurate gauge to where you are starting from because it is the most accurate practice CAT. I would save the other test for right before your test, to gauge how far you've come. The Kaplan tests are perfectly fine for practice, but will not give you a realistic idea of where you currently stand and what you need to work on. They are best used for timing and doing difficult problems.

Anyone know if the on-campus Kaplan practice test is the same as one of the 5 CATs that can be taken with the purchase of Kaplan 2010 Premier Live?

Found a nifty "online chat" link on Kaplan's web site!

The on-line rep responded that the on-campus practice test is actually a paper, "linear", non-CAT test.

However, the rep also stated that the on-campus prep test is NOT included in the Kaplan 2010 book.

Thanks! Good to know as Kaplan Premiere Live Online does have a paper practice test at the end.
