Kaplan online test scores [#permalink] New post 11 Jun 2010, 04:28
Hi,

I am planning to take the GMAT in the next 20 days. I have bought the Kaplan GMAT Premier live online book 2010 edition and appearing for the online tests at kaptest. So far I have taken a few tests and the scores are as below.

The online test(after the paper one): 650 Note: This test was extremely easy, doubtful if its a true representation of the GMAT
The 2nd online test(CAT1): 750
The 3rd online test(CAT2): 690.

I am strictly aiming to score above 700 in the actual GMAT. But seeing the variation in the Kaplan scores, I am a bit worried.Could you pls tell me if these scores will map to above 700 in the actual test.

Agreed. I've read on a few other threads that the first online test (after the paper test) is not representative. Can you please confirm that Kaplan Premier comes with 6 tests (4 CATs)? This is the breakdown as I understand it:

1) Paper Test
2) Online Test
3) 2nd Online Test (CAT1)
4) 3rd Online Test (CAT2)
5) 4th Online Test (CAT3)
6) 5th Online Test (CAT4)

Please confirm if this is accurate. Thanks!

Also, FYI the score estimator in the link above is inaccurate for Kaplan tests. I think they are a lot easier they used to be. However, with a 750 and a 690 I would say that you are definitely on the right track! Perhaps you should try using tests from other companies as well?

Hi usrname123,

Yes thats the right CAT test structure for Kaplan. Can you suggest which company's tests will be a true representative of GMAT score. Is 800score a good one?

I have not yet taken my GMAT, so I only know from other people's experiences. Besides the obvious GMATPrep, I've heard good things about Manhattan GMAT and Knewton, both of which offer a free diagnostic.

debaleena3,

Would you mind posting anymore practice scores you may have taken since? Based on your results, I skipped the Practice Test 2 (1st Online Test), and just did Practice Test 3 (CAT1). I got 760 and I am wondering if it is accurate. I just took a MGMAT CAT a week ago and choked on the math scoring Q35. I didn't bother attempting the verbal. I'm very confused that I was able to score Q50 on the Kaplan CAT1, but I'm hoping this is an accurate test. The math section was 10x easier than the MGMAT math section. I am also a little suspicious of my score because 2 weeks ago I had previously scored Q30 on Practice Test 1 (Paper Test in the book) for the math section.
