Kaplan Tests - Online vs CD? [#permalink] New post 16 Jun 2011, 03:07
I bought the Kaplan book for the tests. After some stupid workaround in my Win7 64bit machine, I managed to install the CD. It has 4 CAT tests and a lot of practice tests. I also registered the book online, which also has the same tests.

Now I am wondering if there is ANY difference b/w the CAT tests online and that in my local installation. The reason I asked this is because my local installation says copyright 2004, seriously? Are they just using the same freaking CD for generations? Are the questions online different and more based on recent GMAT patterns?

Any insight would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Taking Kaplan CATs and Practice Tests online is a good idea. However, if you don't have better internet speed (at least, 1 MbPS), you will end up spending 80 mins instead of 75 in each section as their server doesn't count the processing time.

I lost my access code to get online so I never tried that. I did some practice on the CD. The problem sets I found to be pretty good but the cati test I took was crap. The verbal questions were often law related and overly complex. Some of the explanations even mentioned the lsat. So basically they just used lsat questions. I also noticed numerous typos.

Anyway my score was a 550. On the mgmat cat I took the following week I got a 700.
