Kelley vs. McCombs vs. Olin ($$) [#permalink]
17 Dec 2012, 11:30
Hi All: I was fortunate to be admitted to Kelley, McCombs, Olin, and Georgetown. Olin provided me a nice scholarship; I'm awaiting word on whether I get something from K or M. My goal is to get into brand management following an MBA, and preferably to stay in the Midwest (Chicago ideally). Any perspectives? From a pure rankings perspective, it seems Kelley/McCombs > Olin > Georgetown, but I'm having a harder time parsing out Kelley and McCombs. Both seem very strong but perhaps more regional. But obviously I want to go to the best school possible Thoughts?

McCombs may have a slightly better brand, but both schools are pretty regional.

Concur with this statement. Off-topic a bit, but are you living in the Chicago area? Reason I ask is that I see you're waitlisted at Booth. If you are, then depending on how flexible you can be, you might be able to outlast other wait-listers into July/August, and if say, Harvard or Wharton poaches someone enrolled at Booth off their waitlist, you could be the next in line as a lot of the other wait-listers have already made other plans. I don't recommend putting all your eggs in this basket, but if you put a deposit at Kelley with the intent to enroll and Booth comes calling in the late summer, I think it'd be worth it to eat that deposit to attend a school of Booth's caliber. Congrats on your admits! Best of luck with the decision.
