Thats strange. So early? I have my interview scheduled with an alumni next Thursday.

If this is true then they may actually lose good candidates who would dont make it to H/s/W for some reason

A very narrow minded approach

Yes what I mean here is they might end up (again not necessarily in every case) refusing admit to a person who has just missed out on H/S/W by a narrow margin.


Most people would prefer H/S/W over Kellogg except for say location or personal reasons (like partner is also admitted in Kellog etc)

If you had gor admission to H/S/W and Kellogg would u choose Kellogg

Okie I accept that u have very valid reasons for joining Kellogg

But what I mean is you are among the 20% of candidates who have genuine reason for choosing a particular B-school over probably higher ranked schools like (h-S-W)

But B-schools compete with other schools in terms of numbers (yield selectivity ) which affects thier rankings and percieved quality.

You cant ignore the fact that the b-school masses (70 to 80 %) would choose H/S/W over others

What i mean is that given this context dont you think that it is perfectly possible that some good students would be denied admission just for yield reasons.

guys dont focus so heavily on the GMAT seriously it is just a stat for the school
if u break 700 i dont recommend taking it again...it is just a box to check off...focus on your essays, those are the MOST important, I have been learning more about how applications are assessed and it is overwhelmingly clear that alot of people focus on stats and forget about substance...if it feels any better I have a very close friend who had a 780 2 yrs more work ex than me and he didnt make it into any of the ultra elite's... the whole process is a crap chute, there is a lotta luck involved, write your essays as if you wanna be the reader and think, "this guy is the shit...i like him/her"

another thing...the one thing that pisses MBA's off the most (because everyone is on a high horse since they are in school, and think they are demi gods) is when u send emails with stats and ask em to evaluate you.
I did the same last year and didnt realize it isnt the right approach
when u contact people be smart about how you articulate your email, dont make it seem like u copy and pasted the email to 15 other people...FIRST YEARS CAN HAVE A HUGE SAY IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS.... depending on the school.

You are being evaluated right from the get go, you never know when a second year who interviews you asks a first year if you knew him, and if he has a bad impression of you it may be that slight difference between a "maybe lets give him a shot" and a " nevermind...not good enough"

I went from a 640 to a 710 so that is statistically significant...

My essays were solid, my GPA was awful. With a 710 I would have had a much better shot I am sure. Although I agree it is just a stat - it is an important one if you have a low GPA.

Do you know how long does it take Adcom to give final decision since completeness of interview at Kellogg?
