Kelly and Chris packed several boxes with books. If Chris packed 60 percent of the total number of boxes, what was the ratio of the number of boxes Kelly packed to the number of boxes Chris packed?

(A) 1 to 6
(B) 1 to 4
(C) 2 to 5
(D) 3 to 5
(E) 2 to 3

Kelly packed 40% of the boxes and Chris packed 60% of the boxes, therefore the ratio of the number of boxes Kelly packed to the number of boxes Chris packed is 40/60=2/3.

Answer: E.

First notice that 60% = 3/5 and 40% = 2/5, so....

If Chris = 3/5 of the packages, then Kelly = 2/5

Therefore: K/C=2/3

Answer choice: E
