Hi there :)

I am basically applying to Business Schools at the moment and i'm a bit pressed for time..since the second deadlines of most programs, I am considering, are approaching, in the first or second week of January.

Briefly, here's my profile:

Age: 25 yrs old Pakistani male
Education: Bachelors(hons.) from the top institute in Pakistan (LUMS)
CGPA: 3.21
SGPA: 3.46 (specialization gpa in cs)
TOEFL: 283
GMAT: 710 ( took it on 23rd Dec. '06)
Experience: 2.4 years at Bank Alfalah Limited a credit analyst (now a Credit Manager)
Community Service experience: worked with CARE, a leading NGO in Pakistan, that promotes better education for children. Worked here for 8 months.
Total work experience: slightly more than 3 yrs ( as of now)

Basically, I would also require more or less complete financial aid/scholarships. So here are the schools i'm considering:
1. Harvard - my first love
2. Tuck/Wharton
3. University of South Carolina -IMBA
4. William & Mary Mason School of Business
5. Boston University School of management
6. Wakeforest: Babock school of business

Pls guide me as to what would be the suitable options for me. I don't think I would have much an issue with writing good essays, since I was the editor for my bank's publications as well. I look forward to your guidance.

I would also like to know if I am aiming too high or too low ..or what other options should I consider. My long term goals include private equity fund management. Hence, i'll most certainly specialize in finance..

Thanks a lot for such great work over here..

As you said, the second round deadlines are rapidly approaching, so you'll really have to keep a fairly narrow scope -- especially if you want to produce tailored recommendations and essays.

In terms of targeting schools, a lot of it depends on how badly tou want financial aid. HBS gives aid based on need not on how academic / professional performance. Naturally the lower the school is in the rankings the more likely you are to receive complete financial aid.

You might consider applying to Harvard and Wharton, Carnegie Mellon and Boston U. They are all relatively strong in finance and will keep you focused. Obviously you'll have the best chance of winning a scholarship to Boston U.

Now it's time to get started on your apps!
