Kroll, Background Checks [#permalink] New post 25 Jul 2010, 07:09
Hi all,

Does anyone know how this Kroll thing (or any other similar background checks) works out? Do they call all of your employers, schools/institutions and check the accuracy of the jobs, dates, achievements/stories and everything else in detail?
Or they just make sure that the official records match with what the candidate has already provided in terms of grades, places, names etc.? Thanks-

Cheers

Depends. I've heard some people say that they heard back and passed the background check within a few hours (obviously not enough time to call everyone), while some people have reported getting employers and other things verified.

The bottom line is that as long as you didn't lie on your application, you'll be fine. If you did, then you may get caught. It's really that simple!

Exactly, as long as you gave a fair representation in your application of job professional and academical background, you'll be fine. I proactively sent Kroll additional info so that it would be easier for them to verify my background (they would've had a tough time getting the contact details of the right people/institutions for example, and definitely would've lost quite some time in the process). They did use that info, contacted my employer, etc. I know they checked salary, position title, employment duration, ...
