E it is. After Kuru (noun), we have the prepositional phrase starting with 'of....'. So any choices with 'of' is only redundant. This knocks off A, B and C.
D is hopeless and E is the best choice.

E should be it. "one of the strangest and most insidious" already says it all so there is no need to repeat "of" as in A, B, C or D
