i got the Manhattan Portage Computer messenger 2 years ago now. It is a beast. I carry a Macbook(interior sleeve), the power brick, and generally 1-2 books and a 2-3in binder, plus a ton of crap in the front pocket. it doesn't have a specific spot for everything, its basically got 1 big pocket and a couple flat ones that can fit pens, etc. its also about as durable and resilient as an everyday bag gets. http://www.manhattanportage.com/catalog/Laptop-Bags/Computer-Messenger/190

I love my Tumi backpack: http://www.altmanluggage.com/tumi_5105.htmlI got one in black, not gray. Pros: + goes equally well with a suit and with jeans and t-shirt + after 1 year of extensive wear and tear it's as good as new (and I mean it) + does not look huge while comfortably holding a laptop and a 2.5 inch binder with coursepack + couple of paperbacks (in fact I sometimes wore it under my jacket when it was raining too hard - see cons. I admit, my jacket is XXL though ) + it's Tumi Cons: + not exactly rainproof + an extra across-the-chest strap would be useful when carrying heavy loads (on the flipside it will make it look more sporty)

My girlfriend got me this in the dark brown for xmas: http://www.luggagepros.com/kenneth-cole ... ap=PID6022Sounds like it may be smart to buy something a little more casual and rugged for everyday use and use the one she got me for non-rainy days and more formal events.

Awesome bag! Your g/f has a great taste. At Wharton, lots of people carry formal bags, and there is a great number of those who always and only use a backpack.

The Targus backpack has worked especially well for me at work. You can carry a *lot* of stuff in these. I think I'll continue with it as long as it lasts me, hopefully to B-school and maybe beyond.... http://www.targus.com/us/product_detail ... sku=TXL617

Each tote is different and unique, being created by hand.So as to there are many varieties of western tooled buckskin purses also. You will find huge purses, little handbags, purses, briefcases and even bags available with this specific classic developed styling. If you discover several that you just love, never limit yourself to just one. Right now, it is nearly necessary to individual more than one bag with modern day fashions and also trends. Women prefer to bring different bags for perform and delight.

I start in the Fall and am planning on using this because I already own it. My brother is in consulting and he says shoulder strap bags get annoying having to lug them around, so I might eventually switch over to a regular backpack. http://www.tumi.com/product/index.jsp?p ... c=paramNav
