Last year 4/5 of the applicants for a job in police force passed the physical exam. If 3/4 of the applicants passed the physical exam also passed the written exam. How many applicants ppased both exams?

(1) The number of applicants who did not pass either exam was equal to the number who passed the written examination only
(2) There was a total of 100 applicants

Statement A) is insufficient. It does not provide any clue about the number of the students. St.B) gives the total number of the students but does not provide any information about of the students who failed either exams, also insufficient. From both we can solve the problem. Think that the answer is C)

We want to know: How many applicants passed both?

1. clearly insufficient. Unless we know how many applicants actually took the exam.

2. B should be sufficient.

I agree B alone is sufficient.
With B we know that 80 passed the physical exam. Then 60 passed both exams from the question stem. 80*3/4 = 60.

B is the answer. There are many obvious questions that do not need official answers at all, as many concurred in what the answer should be.
