1) last year 12 of the 30 businesses reported a net profit and had inveestments in foreign markets
2) last year 24 of 30 businesses reported a net profit or invested in foreign markets, or both

1: Obviously Suff.

2: F= Foriegn, P= Profit.

F+P-FP=24. Now why do we subtract FP? Because FP is already included into F and P. Thus we need to subtract FP from F+P to find out what FP is.

Also we know F+P --> 15+21-FP=24 --> FP=12.
