Left-handed persons suffer more frequently than do right-handed persons from certain immune disorders, such as allergies. Left-handers tend to have an advantage over the right-handed majority, however, on tasks controlled by the right hemisphere of the brain, and mathematical reasoning is strongly under the influence of the right hemisphere in most people. If the information above is true, it best supports which of the following hypotheses?
(A) Most people who suffer from allergies or other such immune disorders are left-handed rather than right-handed.
(B) Most left-handed mathematicians suffer from some kind of allergy.
(C) There are proportionally more left-handers among people whose ability to reason mathematically is above average than there are among people with poor mathematical reasoning ability.
(D) If a left-handed person suffers from an allergy, that person will probably be good at mathematics.
(E) There are proportionally more people who suffer from immune disorders such as allergies than there are people who are left-handed or people whose mathematical reasoning ability is unusually good.

i was stuck between C and E.
But E has a flaw that says more people with allergies than people with unusual math quality. This cannot be confirmed.
Hence answer "C"

They are all quite funny, actually, except for (C), especially if one attempts to picture a left-handed friend who sneezes all the time and who is totally absent-minded.

Thanks,
Hi Sastal, the OA for this question is C. It's from the paper test and that's the given OA

Is this question grammatically correct .
The way "However " has been used , it actually says left handers are not good mathematician .
Please help me understand .
Thanks,
Shalini

the sentence is gramatically incorrect - the colored clauses above together form a run-on sentence. However, when answering CR - do not think about grammar (I usually fall into this trap and thereby lose my focus in full length tests!!)

1) Left handed -> more prone to certain immune disorder, such as allergies
2) left handed -> strong in tasks controlled by right hemisphere of brain
-> matmatical reasoning is strongly under influence of right hemishere in MOST people
If the information above is true, it best supports which of the following hypotheses?
(A) Most people who suffer from allergies or other such immune disorders are left-handed rather than right-handed.
- Out. More prone to immune disorder does not mean more left-handers will suffer from allergies
(B) Most left-handed mathematicians suffer from some kind of allergy.
- Out. Good mathematical reasoning does not mean one will be a mathematician
(C) There are proportionally more left-handers among people whose ability to reason mathematically is above average than there are among people with poor mathematical reasoning ability.
- Out. Same reasoning as A.
(D) If a left-handed person suffers from an allergy, that person will probably be good at mathematics.
(E) There are proportionally more people who suffer from immune disorders such as allergies than there are people who are left-handed or people whose mathematical reasoning ability is unusually good.
- Can't verify this from the passage
I'll go with C. The probability of a left-handed person who suffer from allergy and is good at maths is higher. This is supported for in the passage. The rest of the options all deal with translating these into numbers, something we can't be sure of.
