A stands good.
B: releasing - incorrect; who is released?
C: the 35 years - usage of "the" smells incorrect. also passive
D. when at the end is incorrect.
E. and then at the end incorrect; passive; the 35 years

In less than the 35 years since African honeybees had been released outside Sao Paulo, Brazil,
the meaning of bolded part, to be, is all those 35 years or each of these years.
less than <each of 35 years>

I believe C is wrong because the use of tense suggests that African honey bees were released at the same time that their decesendents migrated
Although can someone explain the tense structure for A? I know you use past perfect to indicate that an action in the past occured before another action in the past. So why is the past perfect used here? The african honey bees were released before their decesndents migrated.

imo, you are right.
the question is little wired since none of the ACs are seem correct to me. certainly, A is not an ideal one. i donot think its tense structure is correct.

I dont understand why A is correct.

The idiom in B should be reconstructed to read released from....
(A) stands.

A looks good to me.
Though its confusing with the verb tense since "had" is in the second part, we need to have a simple past for the second action. But I am not sure why we need to have had in the second part since that is the second action and therefore should be in the simple past.

A.
B and C has the wrong use of since. D and E are lenghty and completely ungramitical. so A remains.
