Letters of Rec Question

Alex,
As most schools typically require 2 letters of recommendation, I am wondering what your thoughts are on my situation.
I have already talked to a manager at my old consulting company (worked there for 1.5 years) who is happy to give me a letter of rec. However, I don't know if I can go to my current manager at my new job and ask him for a recommendation. The reason being that I don't think the recommendation will match with the overall story that I am trying to convey to B-schools. If I ask my current manager, he will ask me what I want to do after, and I feel as though I am obligated to tell him that I want to return to the company in a more senior role...If i do this, he will write me a letter of recommendation saying these things - However, my B-school essays will be completely different (they will be about switching careers).
Is it pertinent that I have a letter of rec from my current manager?
What are your thoughts on this?
