Letters of Rec Question [#permalink] New post 07 Aug 2012, 19:40
Hello,

I am currently applying to programs, and I recently switch groups within my current firm. I was previously in a Big 4 audit role, but have recently switched to the consulting arm as of last month. For my letters of rec, I do not plan on getting a letter of rec from a consulting supervisor because 1) I have been the role for only a few weeks and 2) It will likely not be taken well by management.

Is it ok to have both of my LOR's from audit supervisors since they are still with my current firm, and will these be considered 'current supervisors? Or do you think I need to request one from a consulting supervisor in my new role? Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

Good question....better to go with the former supervisor who has more insight and anecdotal examples of your performance. If it comes up, or if you feel so inclined, you can communicate that your reason for not choosing a consulting reco is because it's a brand new position. Totally forgivable.
