This is so absurd, but I feel like I have a knowledge gap (I am also born and raised in Canada with English being my native tongue)... What I didn't understand was that molecular motion increases with heat and the astonishing fact is that this seemed to be common knowledge! (Did I skip too many chemistry classes in high school?)
My question is that is it suppose to be common knowledge that I'm suppose to know that the hotter the temperature = more molecular motion?
Thanks in advance... (My first post too!)
No. You are not "supposed" to know such things since say, a History student may not remember this relation. Specialized knowledge you need to solve a question will be provided in the question itself. Notice the last sentence of the question: "The amount of this molecular motion is directly proportional to the temperature of the retina."
It means higher the temperature, more the molecular motion.
