Light is registered in the retina when photons hit molecules of the pigment rhodopsin and change the molecules’ shape. Even when they have not been struck by photons of light, rhodopsin molecules sometimes change shape because of normal molecular motion, thereby introducing error into the visual system. The amount of this molecular motion is directly proportional to the temperature of the retina.
Which one of the following conclusion is most strongly supported by the information above?
(A) The temperature of an animal’s retina depends on the amount of light the retina is absorbing.
(B) The visual systems of animals whose boy temperature matches that of their surroundings are more error-prone in hot surroundings than in cold ones.
(C) As the temperature of the retina rises, rhodopsin molecules react more slowly to being struck by photons.
(D) Rhodopsin molecules are more sensitive to photons in animals whose retinas have large surface areas than in animals whose retinas have small surface areas.?
(E) Molecules of rhodopsin are the only pigment molecules that occur naturally in the retina.

Got confused between two choices.Explanations friends. Thanks in advance. :)

B is the clear winner.
Higher retina temperature -> higher error
higher surrounding temp -> higher body temp -> higher retina temp -> higher error.

The answer should strengthen. That is temperature causes more molecular motion. That is more error.

Answer should have temperature. Eliminate D, E
C - Negative answer- Eliminate
A- This one is tricky. But wrong. A causes B. To strengthen it, we cannot say B causes A. So actually it is a weakening answer. - Eliminate

Answer B.

Argument: Eye registers light when photons hit molecules of rosp. + change molecule’s shape
If temperature changes (increases) – this increases changes molecule’s shape without serving photons hit.

(A) The temperature of an animal’s retina depends on the amount of light the retina is absorbing. [Definitely not – as per the argument even when retina is not absorbing light, it’s under molecule’s change – eliminate it]
(B) The visual systems of animals whose boy temperature matches that of their surroundings are more error-prone in hot surroundings than in cold ones. [Too extreme – here underlying assumption is body temperature affects eye temperature – eliminate it]
(C) As the temperature of the retina rises, rhodopsin molecules react more slowly to being struck by photons. [Hold it]
(D) Rhodopsin molecules are more sensitive to photons in animals whose retinas have large surface areas than in animals whose retinas have small surface areas.? [Not per argument – eliminate it]
(E) Molecules of rhodopsin are the only pigment molecules that occur naturally in the retina. [Not stated in argument - Eliminate it]

A by POE

B , D, E - out of scope
if i understand this right , C is refuting the conclusion that The amount of this molecular motion is directly proportional to the temperature of the retina.
