Yet couples often express other types of marital frustrations in financial terms. They are unable to express the problems clearly and diguise it as financial problems. Hence weakens the conclusion.

i think "couples often express other types of marital frustrations in financial terms" does not mean that couples can not discribe problems accurately.

author is giving "alternative explanation ", e.g. "other types of marital frustrations in financial terms".

going with B.

The conclusion is : Money is the root cause
Conclusion is based on statistical data.

Couples use money to describe some of their problems. This is an explanation for some of the data.

Hence B.

A there is no counter example
C out of scope
D survey was not criticized
E close but B is better.
