To use like at the beginning of a phrase generally is incorrect in particular if after there is not a an example or a correct parallelism

So we have only B and C, but B as this parallelism of like and gramatically correct.

hence B :)

B
the modifier "the one" should have a clear antecedent(eliminates A, D and E).
in C-----the phrase "of a complete dinosaur, like the one reportedly found" says it as if a dinosaur has been found instead of the REMAINS of the dinosaur which was found.so C is out

Carcass can u explain in detail how u used ||lism? i dont understand how u eliminated C.

B) Officials in Kern County claim findings of the remains of a complete dinosaur, like the one reportedly found in Monterey County, which, like Kern County, is a county in California packed with dinosaur museums and exhibits.

C) Officials in Kern County claim findings of the remains of a complete dinosaur similar to Monterey County’s, which, like Kern County, is a county in California packed with dinosaur museums and exhibits.

is completely different ;)

1 vote for B. The others are unambiguous and grammatically incorrect.

B. No doubt. Explanation is provided in above posts.
However, I differ with Jamico7 for the explanation of original sentence.
It's not a run on sentence. First phrase is an ambiguous modifier.

Please notify if I am mistaken.

Could anyone clarify, why "like" is used in B. "Like" should be used for nouns only, isn't it?
I think that we should replace like with "such as", which is used to modify clause.

Like generally has a meaning of "similar to". Therefore, it is fine to use it here, because you just introduce an example - > "Y county, similar to X County, has discovered..."
The case of "Like" vs. "Such as" is a different one and is concerning lists of examples. If you list/number something you can't use "like", but have to use "such as".

Hope this, at least, partially answered your question!

Best,

I have a query in this one,in the question stem we are comparing a thing "reportedly found" in M.County (also a county in C then "Description of that county"),Officials in K.County claim Findings of that similar thing.

How can we compare counties as pointed out by most of members. As in options (B) and (C) how we came to know that both counties are similar.
