Since some of us may be heading there this fall, I thought I would find out what people here know about Durham.
Has anyone spent much time there?
Got good restaurant, mechanic, or dentist recs?
I am particularly interested in housing/neighborhoods. It sounds like lots of Fuqua students like to live in complexes, but I am a fan of neighborhood living....neighborhoods where cul-de-sacs don't predominate.

Duke has been the most responsive and eager to help school I've come into contact with; and so I think your best bet might be to contact someone there and ask them either what they think or who to talk to. I don't know if you are thinking of buying but when I visited I met 2 married couples who had bought houses. I picked up some relocation guides while I was there and houses are CHEAP!
Durham itself did not seem like a great place to live (excluding apartments where students live). But I heard that there are some really great near-by towns and that it is possible to find nice, affordable areas with an easy comute.
