Loans for US Student Studying Abroad [#permalink] New post 29 Feb 2008, 10:04
I'm sorry if this has already been addressed (I couldn't find anything related to my question) but does anyone know how I can get student loans for living expenses when I am a US Citizen studying at a school abroad?

I tried the FAFSA and federal aid route but St. Gallen is not registered with the Department of Education (unlike INSEAD or LBS which are). I have a loan through the school for my tuition costs but am afraid I won't have enough money to cover higher living expenses in Switzerland so I need to find a bank or program in the US to address this. Wachovia seems to have a loan designed for this but the interest rate fluctuates based off the prime rate.

Also, if I apply for a few different loans (basically rate shopping) will that affect my credit more than if I just applied with one bank?

Thanks for all your help! I hope my question helps others in my shoes.

I am in the same boat my fellow St. Gallen comrade! Which Wachovia loan are you looking at?

Any credit experts out there?!
