Congrats,

Find some good admission consultant or alumni, who can take your mock interview(s).

Some info: http://www.clearadmit.com/wiki/index.ph ... nInterview

Actually, I am also looking for one for the complete LBS application process.

Good Luck

Please suggest a good admission consultant for LBS. Most of the consultants are US B'school centric.

Drop us a line. We have a few people who have done LOTS of work with European schools. Our consultant Yaron has done quite a few Europe applications and has lived in several European countries, and has gotten amazing results with some very diverse people.

I got an interview call as well. Actually quite surprising because I wasn't expecting anything until tomorrow. Good surprise!

Best of luck!!

Also - you can check out the beat the GMAT forum. There aren't many applicants for R1 but there are some.

Thanks esdykes. Good luck to you too!

LBS MBA Admission Coaching

Tearing your hair out over your LBS MBA application? No worry, this coaching service will definitely give you peace of mind and greatly enhance your chance of getting admitted.

For you, I will:
- Walk you through LBS MBA life and give you very insider view of every detail, e.g. how each term differs from the others, how your stream looks like, how your study group looks like
- Give you advice on the whole application process – GMAT, essay-writing, recommendations
- Give you a picture of the whole selection process – from application, to shortlisting, to interviews, to final offers
- Share with you critical things that the authority will never tell you when selecting candidates – do they compare an American with an Indian? Do they prioritize candidates based on GMAT?
- Review your essays – the MOST important part of all:
• Define your career goal so as to position yourself properly for “why MBA?”
• Map your profile with qualities that LBS looks for
• Suggest what clubs, events, competitions, courses, professors, internship, resources you should address in the essays to get aligned with your career goals
• Suggest what keywords you must put in the right place to touch the nerves of the authority, e.g. “diversity”
• Strategize your essays to highlight different aspects of your personal life, career, interests, personality, visions to fascinate the authority, who looks for diversity
• Share with you my application essays as an example. They are excellent but not perfect, I will tell you what I should have done better

Perhaps you might have done some research about LBS MBA, but I will help save your huge effort and time to google information for your essays. More importantly, my insight is the inquisition I experienced at LBS, which could never be googled in any websites. I am sure you will be impressive with your deep-dive understanding of LBS, which will definitely be taken as a token of sincerity. Your chance of getting admitted will be greatly increased.

Perhaps it’s the cliché that you’ve heard 100 times, I bet your application essays are the most critical stuff in the application process. If you are really passionate about an MBA, please do invest in your essays. Give your 100% or 0%, nothing allowed in between.

If interested, please email me by lbsmbacoaching-at-gmail-dot-com to know more. Mock interviews can also be discussed.

FREE profile evaluation with your CV and GMAT scores.

PS: A brief background about me:

Like most of you, I came from a very humble background – not from top US i-banks, not 3B1M consulting firms, not Fortune 500 corporations, but a rarely known local company in a developing country. My age is far above average and my career was purely local. Although I scored 740+ in GMAT (top 10% in LBS), I found, in hindsight, it had not added much value to my application. After all, I was accepted and offered a scholarship, based on my outstanding application essays to hit the bonus.

Has anyone actually interviewed yet? Mine is this afternoon (ahh!). I used clear admit to help prepare and I've had two other MBA interviews so far, so we'll see how it goes. The 1-2 hours is a bit intimidating.

Good luck!!

So - report out: The interview ended up being almost 3 hours!!!!!! I met the interviewer at her apartment in NYC. She was very nice - more of a discussion with direct questions about my work experience (I have 5+ years, so it was a lot to cover). She was very detailed and had clearly read my application package. She referenced a couple of comments from my referees and asked for my comments. This was interesting because it was the first insight I had into what they actually wrote! Overall - the questions were normal. I think the challenging piece for me was the level of detail we went into on each position I've held and the depth of questioning. She also asked me specific questions about other schools I applied to - ie: rank order them, why on my list, why I didn't look at other schools (LBS is my only European school).

The presentation was fun. There were 5 topic choices that LBS provided to her. She had me pick a number out of an envelope and that was my presentation topic. I didn't present for the whole 5 minutes - not sure if that's good or bad, but it's over now.

At the end, I had a few questions for her that turned into more of a discussion, maybe 15 minutes total. Through this, I learned that she is a psychology major and does HR consulting for CEO succession planning. Needless to say, I think she's a very seasoned interviewer!! Glad I didn't know that until the end :-D

Now - I wait. Fingers crossed for good news on 17-Dec!!!!!!

had my interview today. It lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes. My throat is now sore. I have also realized that after LBS interview I dont need to prepare for any other interview as every possible question was covered.

The interview was conversation style but the interviewer went over every single line item in my resume and wanted to know why / what / how did I do it.. Then had a 5 min presentation.. very simple presentation topic.. was a repeat of one of last years presentation topics so you peeps can go to the clear admit wiki and check out all of last years topics.. ended with me asking the interviewer a few questions..

Haha - I agree 100% with this statement. The interview was very deep. Good one to start with if you can. Unfortunately for me, it was my last one and left me feeling like I could have had stronger examples in earlier interviews. Boo to the agonizing wait.

Just had my interview, which turned out to be quite the opposite experience from what I've read on this forum. It was extremely casual, short and not very in-depth. The interviewer (hedge fund guy) was very warm and friendly and asked very typical questions (e.g., Walk me through your resume. Why MBA? Why LBS? What would you contribute to the school?). The entire interview including the presentation was under an hour. I have no clue what to conclude from the length of the meeting, but my interaction with the interviewer was very positive and I enjoyed hearing about his MBA experience.

That's awesome! Where (what city) did you interview if you don't mind me asking?

I don't know for certain, but I just checked around and found a couple of things that make me think that it is not available:
1) same question raised on last year's boards. Some one contacted LBS wh said that the loans were not available due to a technical issuer but they were working to resolve the problem. The person was directed to the LBS website on financing your degree.
2) I went to this section of the website and there is no mention of the HSBC loan scheme.

LBS gave a presentation in my city about a month ago. They mentioned during Q&A that the HSBC loan was not available at this stage. During a private conversation someone from admissions mentioned that it was possible it would not be available at all, but she instead mentioned many other possible loan schemes available for people from my country.
