Looking for some advice on Masters [#permalink]
05 Dec 2009, 08:41
I am currently a student at Saint Louis University graduating with a degree in accounting. I have an internship this upcoming summer with a Big 4 firm and plan on accepting an offer if it comes at the end of the internship. I have a 3.97 gpa, 640 GMAT with a 6 AWA. Lots of work experience too (3 internships)
Right now Im currently leaning towards just getting my masters in accounting at Saint Louis U. Is it worth applying to a highly ranked masters program (top 25) instead of SLU? Right now Im leaning towards SLU simply because I dont see a big advantage to going somewhere else. I guess Im looking to see what the advantages of going to a top 25 program would be be for me. Thank you for your advice

I see no advantage. The whole point of the master's is to get enough hours to sit for the exam...regardless of where you go, you will need to study for the exam so going to top 25 will not guarantee your passing the exam on the first go-round. The only reason I could see going somewhere else is because of money. Some programs have research/fellowship positions available that offer partial/full tuition scholarships.
