Looking for specialised masters / schools good at finance [#permalink] New post 08 Jul 2009, 07:45
Hi,

Brief about my profile:

Academics:
B.E. from Univ of Mumbai. GPA 3.7
M.B.M. (masters in business management) from IIT Kharagpur, India. GPA: 3.8
GMAT: 710

Professional experience:
I have been working with a big American bank for past 4 years. I am currently working in Singapore as a fixed income securities dealer/trader.

My Objective:
I want to shift to corporate finance/private equity. Looking for a specialized masters in finance or MBA from a reputed finance B-School. I dont have a preference for any location.
I have shortlisted the following programs:
Masters in Finance, London Business School.
Master in Finance, Princeton Univ.
MFE, UC Berkeley Haas
Master in Advanced Finance, IE Business School, Spain
MBA, INSEAD
MBA, Univ of Chicago Booth
MBA, Penn State Wharton
MBA, Oxford Univ.

2 questions:
1. Given my profile, would you advise me to go for a specialized masters or an MBA? (given I already have a management degree).
2. Looking at my profile, how would you evaluate my chances at these schools?

I would strongly suggest to find a way to get the job you want without spending a lot of money going back to school, especially since you already have a masters degree in management.
