Low GMAT [#permalink] New post 08 Sep 2004, 10:43
Hey Guys,

Question: I failed the GMAT - took it again, bombed. 550, second time, didn't finish verbal.

I'm planning on taking it another time, but, honestly, w/ travel work I'm not sure how I'm going to make it - I'm managing a $3B merger and I honestly have no time to study for this thing (esp verbal); much like last time - oh, and, did I mention, I really suck at this test? How can I avoid the same fate?

Can one of you help?

You may feel that this isn't an option, but it sounds to me that ideally you should wait until you have more time to prepare for the test. Just like everything else, you have to work for the results, and you need to have the time to put in the work. Sorry if it sounds like I'm preaching, but if you can't make time to study for it, you can't expect to raise your score!

Have you thought about taking a GMAT prep class? Very few people *need* a GMAT prep class, but many people who take a class say that one of the biggest advantages is that the class forced them to stick to a schedule, which they couldn't have done on their own. Also, it sounds like you have a deep, specific need (help on the verbal section), and a good GMAT instructor (if you can find one; not all are very good) should be able to really focus on that weakness.

Good luck,
Scott
