Low GMAT score in the first time

Hello,
I sat for the first time for the GMAT last month and I got a low score. English is my third language and I havent done well in the verbal section...I am preparing again and I felt that I am improving a lot..However, I am bit concerned about my application in the next month..Even if I score a high score in my second attempt, does first time score affect my application as most of the universities declare that they consider the last GMAT score?

Please advice. :(

You did not mentioned in which area you are weak. If you are weak in Sentence correction of verbal then I would suggest by Manhattan GMAT SC book and read it diligently. If you are weak in area of critical reasoning then go for Powerscore CR bible which is the good one. For quant, go through OG-10 and OG-11 and once you finish them you can go for GMAT club challenges.

Your 510 score won't matter to the schools if you end up with a higher score on your second try. Schools typically only look at your highest score.

Hi jugolo1,

A high score on your second attempt will effectively "cancel out" your previous score. It may actually be a boon to your application as it shows you worked hard and put the time in to bring the score up. Schools love seeing applicants who overcome a poor first test.

Depending on how low your verbal score was the first time around, a month is probably not going to be enough time to turn things around. If you don't mind me asking what was the verbal score?

I strongly recommend you to try TTP both for Quant and Verbal.
If Verbal is your weak area, you can amend the course as per your aimed score - at this point of time, what many folks need is the a structured course, hence thought of recommending the same to you.
