Low Score on GMAT - Needing Advice [#permalink] New post 05 Mar 2009, 18:27
I recently studied for the GMAT and even took a prep class and scored 420 on the test. Obviously I am not doing the right things. I tend to really struggle especially in verbal. I have really high hopes out there and want to make it into the high 600s....even 700 if I could. Any advice or strategies out there that worked for others???

tell us about how you prepared for the GMAT. Knowing what you did to prepare can help us see what things you might do differently before the retake.

I began with a condensed princeton review course, which I found informative and my scores were beginning to improve however my verbal continued to struggle. I mainly focused on practicing problems out of the OG guide and the princeton review manual. To be honest (embarrassed) I probably gave it about a month of time. My scores started to slightly improve but when I attempted the test my anxiety and lack of being truly prepared really set in. I feel like a prep class begins to lay the foundation however I am looking to see how people are studying beyond that.

i guess you shoud first start with a diagnostic test, tells you how good/ok/bad you are at it. once you have a perspective, depending on the score go for a good prep course. in between it wouldnt hurt to give lots of practice test. I guess you'll be able to find few free practice tests and some very good paid tests online. keep trying all of those to get more practices.

the more you practice, i guess the better you'd get. Here are some references you can use:
