Could you please give a proper explanation for this question? How is one excavator working in 100 minutes? how did we get 50*2?

The proper explanation is already given in the original post.

To answer your question: If two excavators working together can complete the task in 50 minutes, one excavator, working alone, would take twice as long, which is 100 minutes.
