M04#9 - Not the probability Q, but the value of X Q [#permalink]
31 Mar 2010, 20:00
What is the value of X ?
1. X! is odd 2. X is even
S1: 0!=1, 1!=1 not sufficient S2: 2,4,6,8,,,, S1 and S2 are mutually exclusive sets, in other words statements S1 and S2 are conflicting.

X! is odd and the two numbers you pulled 0 and 1 satisfy that.
However in statement 2 X (not X!) is said to be even so 0 is even while 1 is odd
so 0 satisfies this and the statements do not contradict.

Just slipped @ 0 is an even integer. For the record, I knew S2 was just X and not X! , I should accounted for 0 in addition to the other even numbers (2,4,6,8,....)
