Debating btw a MacBook Air and a Lenovo X1 Carbon. I'm a Mac fanatic but am concerned, first and foremost, about buying a laptop *for* business school.
How often is the Windows version of Excel required?
I know there are programs for Mac that allow Windows to be run, etc., but wondering if the Mac version of Excel is good for... like... 70% of all work?
I don't remember any situations that required the use of the Windows version. I used the Windows version via Parallels for my first year then got tired of it using up all the RAM in my MacBook Air and making things take forever to load, so I switched over to Office for Mac and had no problems.
Granted, I'm a complete knuckledragger when it comes to Excel so I didn't have to relearn a bunch of keyboard shortcuts or anything. But I'd say you'll be fine on a Mac at least 90% of the time unless you're doing some really complex PE-type stuff, and even then you should be able to survive if you are comfortable with Mac shortcuts.
