MAcc with Low GPA?? [#permalink] New post 14 Apr 2010, 17:43
Hello,

I have problem with low gpa and trying to make up with decent GMAT score
Currently i have 650 on GMAT but i am trying to put it up to 700.

GMAT: 650
GPA: 2.62/4.0 B.A. Economics (Not a top 50 undergraduate just medicore state college)
Work experience: None

FORDHAM or BARUCH

I know that baruch is top 20 MAcc school but Fordham is known for decent MAcc program. I checked the website and deadline for baruch is may 31th so if i apply for baruch with 650gmat do you guyz think that i might have chance for Baruch MAcc program? or should i improve my gmat score up to 700. With decent GMAT score(if i get 700) and good essays, do i have chances for these school?

I think it was mentioned previously in the forum that GMAT score of 640 and up pretty much (more than) satisfies the GMAT requirements for Fordham and Baruch's MS Accounting programs.

However, your GPA is going to be a problem during the admissions (not sure how much) AND during recruiting. (Some Big 4 firms ask you to attach a copy of your unofficial undergrad transcript with your application for on campus recruiting and etc)

Also, if those schools have rolling admissions (meaning decisions are made first come first serve basis), you have to send your application in way before their stated deadline. Because accounting firms are few of the employers that are still hiring even during the recession, many college grads are pursuing MS Accounting degree. As a result, there might be too many applicants to these programs.

It's fairly late in the season to be applying for the MACC. I was in your boat last year and I applied in Feb and got into a top school in MS accouning.

You might want to think about starting in the spring next year. I hear it's really tought this year to get in.

I have the same problem:

GPA 2.81/4.0 UT-Austin Economics
Work Experience: None

I have not taken the GMAT and I was wondering what range of score I needed to even be considered at a top 25 school. If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated. I'd most likely be applying for next fall, maybe spring. Again, thanks for your help.

Rayparlour,

If you don't mind, what school did you get into and what did your profile look like?
