Hello Friends,

I have to choose between Mannheim MBA and Virginia Tech, Pamplin MBA. I am not able to decide which one will be better for job prospects post MBA.

Pros of Mannheim : 1) Ranked among top European B schools.
2) Located near the Business district of Germany
3) 1 year program.

Cons : 1) I have to pay all the expense from my packet (around $40,000 is only tuition)
2) I am not sure whether the program is well known outside Europe, if my goal is to work outside Germany in long term.
3) Knowledge of German is kind of necessary to get a ob post MBA.

Pros of Pamplin : 1) Located in US, and the Virginia Tech is well known, outside US as well.
2)Got half assistantship, so the remaining expense is manageable.

Cons : 1)Not a highly ranked program in US.
2)average exp. of classmates is around 2 years, while my work exp. is more than 5 yrs.
3) 2 years program

Please suggest / give inputs on this.

From what I know, Uni Mannheim prides itself as one of the best Economy focused universities in Germany. My dad graduated from Mannheim in the 90s, although not from the MBA program. He is currently running his own business in China importing medical equipment from Germany.

I consider Mannheim my home town although I was born in China. I wouldn't consider Mannheim close to Germany's business district, although it is surrounded by some extremely influential businesses, such as BASF Chemicals, SAP and it's only 45 minutes from Frankfurt.

I would consider going back as well, but I'm living in London at the moment and there are also quite a few top ranked MBA programs over here.
