Many employees of GEOCOM, a company established five years ago, have service vehicles. Since all employees of the quality control department (QCD) live within ten miles of the company’s campus, it can be concluded that none of the employees of the quality control department has a service vehicle provided by the company.

The conclusion drawn above depends on which of the following assumptions?

(A)No employee who lives within ten miles of the company’s campus has a service vehicle.

(B)None of the quality control department employees lives farther than fifteen miles from the company’s campus.

(C)Some employees of the marketing department live within ten miles of the company’s campus and have service vehicles.

(D)All employees who live within ten miles from the company work for the quality control department.

(E)All employees who don’t have a service car are employees of the quality control department.

Many employees of GEOCOM have service vehicles.
(FACT:all employees of the quality control department (QCD) live within ten miles of the company’s campus)+(assumption)=>
it can be concluded that none of the employees of the quality control department has a service vehicle provided by the company

We are looking for an assumption that given the first fact leads us to the conclusion. It is something common to all the QCD employees.

My take is A.
(A)No employee who lives within ten miles of the company’s campus has a service vehicle.

Knowing that all QCD live within 10 miles, none of those will have a vehicle.

Very nice question (+1 kudos), waiting for OA...

Many employees of GEOCOM, a company established five years ago, have service vehicles.

Since all employees of the quality control department (QCD) live within ten miles of the company’s campus
--> it can be concluded that none of the employees of the quality control department has a service vehicle provided by the company.

The conclusion drawn above depends on which of the following assumptions?

NEGATION TEST

(A)No employee who lives within ten miles of the company’s campus has a service vehicle.
Some of the employees who lives within ten miles of the company's campus have a service vehicle; ---> If it is true, then the argument will not be valid at all

(B)None of the quality control department employees lives farther than fifteen miles from the company’s campus.
Most of the quality control departement employees lives farther than fifteen miles from the company's campus --> Does not have any impact on the argument
(C)Some employees of the marketing department live within ten miles of the company’s campus and have service vehicles.
No employee of the marketing department live within ten miles of the company's campus and has a servie vehicle provided by the company --> Out of scope, we are concerned with Employees of QCD.
(D)All employees who live within ten miles from the company work for the quality control department.
No employee who live within ten miles from the company work for the QCD --> Same
(E)All employees who don’t have a service car are employees of the quality control department.
All employees who don’t have a service car are not employees of the quality control department.

I'll go for A

Yes ...good question....Options contains a mix of Inference and assumption answer choices"
Answer must be A...
think on the lines on Cause and effect....
Cause: All employees of QCD live within 10 miles
Effect: those employees Do not have cars....
option A eliminates an alternative case fr the effect. Do not assume here that if cause is absent than effect must also be absent.
if u see a bigger picture of the argument it says if u live within 10 miles , than u ll nt have a vehicle....So option A presents a support to the cause and effect and must be the correct answer

Consider kudos if my post helps!!!!!!!!!!!
