Are the below two statements the same or different???
Question is related to parallelism

Q:
Many teachers choose to seek employment in the suburbs rather than face low
salaries in the city.

Many teachers choose to seek employment in the suburbs rather than to face low
salaries in the city.

Can to be made common?

Hi Aditya,

Nice to make your acquaintance. :)

Both sentences convey the same meaning and both are correctly written. :)

For parallelism, you want to either repeat the preposition or only use it once. You will break the parallelism of a sentence if you use it inconsistently. Let me illustrate with a simple example:

Correct: The goal is to eat, to sleep, and to be happy.

Correct: The goal is to eat, sleep, and be happy.

Incorrect: The goal is to eat, sleep, and to be happy.

Incorrect: The goal is to eat, to sleep, and be happy.

Does this help?

Let me know if I can clarify further. :)
