Margie and Maggie can finish the job together in 3 hours. If Margie can do the job by herself in 5 hours, what percent of the job does Maggie do?

maggine in an hour = 1/3-1/5=2/15

magge/marie = (2/15/)(1/5) = 2/3

maggie does 33.3% of the job

Margie does 3/5th of the job and Maggie does 2/5th of the job in 3 hours
So Maggie does 40% of the job.

Anand is correct. Question was percent of the whole job,not compared to each other's job.I should be careful with the question, on what exactly is asked. adding to my error list.

If Margie's productivity is Mr, Maggie's productivity is Mg, then 3(Mr + Mg) = V = 5(Mr). => 2Mr = 3Mg => Maggie's productivity is equal to 2/3*Mr => she does 40%.

margie does1/5 th in one hr and both of them work for three hrs and so margie does 1/5 * 3 = 3/5 of the work ,
magie=3/5 - 1 = 2/5
=40%
