market sizing/guestimate - parking lot spaces

Hi guys,
I am hoping somebody can help me find a better approach to this question:
Suppose a new airport is being built in your hometown and you have been asked to build the new parking lot. How would you estimate the number of parking spaces needed?
I approached it like this:
Spaces have to be divided between passengers, staff, and cabs.
Assuming that we have around 200 airport staff, and with most of these taking the company bus due to relaticely low pay, I will allocate around 30 parking spaces for staff.
for passengers and cabs I will estimate peak volume of traffic
We have around 5 international checkin counters and 10 domestic. Assuming as per my usual wait time that these counters are open for 3 hours, i estimate that we have max 5 flights per hour leaving the airport. I will assume that we have an average of 5 flights per hour coming in as well. so that gives us 10 flights in one hour. With an average of 300 people per flight works out to 3000 ppl per hour arriving/leaving.
Next estimating number of cars - since my hometown is a tourist destination I shall assume that people mostly travel as a family/group in average size of 3. That gives us 1000 groups per hour. From these thousand groups, I will assume that most (80%)arriving are tourists , etc take cabs .. so around 400 cabs needed per hour.
Of the remaining 600 groups I will estimate that these will mostly use their own vehicles since bus service is irregular. So a 600 cars.
But out of these 600 cars 70% would be quick dropoffs - so I will assume that 200 cars per hour need parking.
so that gives us 400 cabs and 200 cars per hour. Assuming that time between successive arrivals / departures is 30 minutes we will llocate parking spaces in slots of 30 mins. So this means 600/2 = 300 spaces needed every 30 minutes.
300+ staff parking = 330 parking spaces needed in the airport lot.
Any tips or suggestions??
